Janice R. Johnson Legacy Society

The Janice R. Johnson Legacy Society was established to honor and thank our friends who have included the Humane Society of Utah (HSU) in their estate plans as a beneficiary designation to wills, living trusts, IRAs, and other life-income gifts.

Leaving a Legacy of Hope

Growing up in Utah in the early 1900s, Janice R. Johnson was an unfortunate witness to animal neglect and abuse during her childhood. While Janice went on to live in different areas of the country as a school teacher, she always vowed that she would somehow right the senseless animal brutality that she witnessed as a child.

Diligent savers with their money and without any children, Janice and her husband developed a large estate. At the end of her life, Janice's vow to help animals was the driving force behind her generous planned gift to HSU. For nearly 30 years, Janice's legacy has lived on through HSU's Murray shelter that her estate made possible, and she will always be remembered for saving tens of thousands of lives.
